Pharmaceutical Name : Folium Pyrrosiae

Botanical Name : 1. Pyrrosia shearei (Bak.) Ching; 2. Pyrrosia petiolosa (Christ) Ching; 3. P. Lingua (Thunb.) Farwell

Common Name : Pyrrosia leaf

Part Used & Method for Pharmaceutical Preparations : The leaves are gathered all year round. They are cleaned, dried in the sun and cut into small pieces.

Properties & Taste: Bitter or sweet and slightly cold

Meridians : Lung and urinary bladder

Functions : To promote water metabolism and regulate abnormal urination

Indications & Combinations : Damp-heat in the urinary bladder manifested as dysuria, painful urination, hot urine, urinary tract stones, blood in the urine, turbid urine, urgency of micturition and frequent urination. Pyrrosia leaf (Shiwei) is used with Talc (Huashi), Lygodium spores (Haijinsha) and Plantain seed (Cheqianzi).

Dosage: 5-10 g
